If you know me, you know I love my cycling. REALLY love it. And I love the area I live in.
So when I was commissioned by Pennine Prospects for a project to promote cycling in the place I live (The South Pennines) I couldn’t believe it!
But when you love a place and an activity this much, a project becomes a labour of love, and you tend to agonise over every detail….. which is just what I did here. But the end result was worth it.
A 120 page pocket journal with stories about people, places, events, art, routes, makers, doers and landscapes. All linked to bikes, the landscape and how the combination of both in this area affects people’s lives. Writing and photography was mainly by myself, with contributions from people I met along the journey.
It’s not often you get to do a project about your passion. Let alone two of your passions combined. This was just that.
All profits from the sale of the book go towards the upkeep of the South Pennines landscape – such as looking after the bridleways, renovating signage on paths etc. Which is just great.
